Fee: $185 (9 week term) | Danielle teaches drawing fundamentals by creating exercises that use the basics of drawing like tone, line, value and perspective which also introduces her students to a variety of mediums and using them in creative ways. This class is ideal for those who have always wanted to learn not only drawing, but also gain an introduction to further study like painting. Go to our website for the location schedule under "What's On". | Watercolour Maxine Wade Tuesday mornings 10.00am – 12.30pm Term 3 - Monday 15th July to Friday 13th September Fee: $185 (9 week term) | My watercolour class on a Tuesday morning caters to all skill levels and teaches basic watercolour techniques, colour mixing, values, textures, composition, drawing, using the right brush and advice on the use of materials and equipment. We cover a wide range of subjects, including landscape, seascape and boats, figures, street scenes, still life, animals and interiors. I have been teaching this class for 16 years at GECAG, as of 2021. Suitable for all levels. | | Watercolour and Mixed media Maxine Wade Tuesday afternoons 1.00pm – 3.00pm Term 3 - Monday 15th July to Friday 13th September Fee: $150 (9 week term) | Using a variety of media, including watercolour paints, inks, coloured pencils (both water soluble and ordinary), graphite and gouache or acrylic paints – a range of subjects will be studied using the appropriate techniques for the relevant medium. This class is a mix of painting and drawing. Mostly working on paper (some specialty ones), a range of brush and drawing techniques will explore the various media, some being small technical studies, and others being larger developed works. Especially for the watercolour component, it is recommended that you have some basic experience. A materials list will be sent to you on enrolment. | |
Painting and Pastels Class Danielle Robertson Tuesday Evenings 7.30pm – 9.30pm Term 3 - Monday 15th July to Friday 13th September Fee: $150 (9 week term) | This painting class enables you to work in either paints (oils) or pastels. The subject matter may be still life, landscapes, or portraits. Still life setups are available to paint, or you may prefer to work from a photo reference. Everyone works at their own pace. If you have wanted to start painting but have not had a lot of experience, or you are slightly anxious about it, then feel free to come along for a trial class. I am sure you will enjoy working in this stress-free environment with other like- minded people. | | Pastels and Mixed Media Sandra Marasco Wednesday mornings 10.00 – 12.00pm Term 3 - Monday 15th July to Friday 13th September Fee: $150 (9 week term) | In this class, Sandra guides her students as they work on their own individual projects. Collaborating with reference photos and still life. Exploration of materials including pastels, charcoal, oil, acrylic and watercolour...amongst others, is encouraged. Sandra’s extensive tutoring experience in drawing & sketching, watercolour, oils & acrylic, ceramics and Calligraphy, covers any technique for portraiture, landscape or still life. Skill level can be from beginners through to advanced students. | | Painting and Drawing with Coloured Ink Lisa Murphy Wednesday afternoons 1.00pm - 3.00pm Term 3 - Monday 15th July to Friday 13th September Fee: $150.00 (9 week term) | This class is suitable for beginners and those with experience. Learn the beauty and diversity of creating artwork with INK. Students will be taught various techniques on how to paint with COLOURED INKS, (as well as black), covering a wide range of subject matter. Techniques will include: * painting wet on wet / wet on dry * how to apply washes * creating beautiful bleeds * use of light and shadow to create depth * line and tonal work * layering of colours * creating textures * achieving detail * crosshatching * other mediums used to add new dimensions to your work ie: charcoal, pencil, gouache, collage, gold leaf, pen, cling wrap, salt.... Students are given demonstrations and guidance throughout the classes and are encouraged to work at their own pace. Here we learn perseverance and lateral thinking. Children progress at their own pace with individual and personalised instruction to develop the tools needed to gain confidence in their artwork. Expressive mark-making is highly encouraged. Drawing increases visual literacy and the arts have the power to transform the lives of young people. Since 2009, Sandra has provided 1000’s of hand-drawn images and paintings for her young students. Guided by their interests including animation, fashion illustration, landscape and animals. Acrylics and Watercolour Craig Penny Thursday Mornings 9.30am-11.30am Term 3 - Monday 15th July to Friday 13th September Fee: $150 (9-week term) | This class is for all skill levels and participants can work with either acrylic or watercolour. Craig provides students with an image to work from, discussing how to draw it up and ways in which the composition of the photograph can be simplified or improved upon. Subjects include landscapes, seascapes, street scenes and still life. In each class, Craig completes an artwork, demonstrating his approach to the subject from the first marks to the last in either acrylic or watercolour. Students paint along in between each ‘step’ of the work. If a student only works with one medium, Craig provides additional guidance on the days he is demonstrating the other medium. | | Life Drawing Session Margaret Holloway (facilitator) Thursday Afternoon 1.30pm – 4.00pm Term 3 - Monday 15th July to Friday 13th September Fee: $150 (9-week term) to be paid in cash at first session. | This session is suitable for all experience levels: absolute beginners through to more experienced artists. The Life Class is untutored although assistance is available from our more experienced participants. Each week, a different life model will provide a range of poses over the two and a half hour session. They will start with a few short poses to warm up, and then a number of longer poses. The format for the session is that the model will pose for 20 minutes followed by a ten-minute break, and this will occur five times for the session. Participants can work in their chosen medium, although recommended mediums for beginners are pencil, charcoal or pastel. | | The Art of Painting Oils and Acrylics Vicki McInnes Friday mornings 10.30am – 12.30pm Term 3 - Monday 15th July to Friday 13th September Fee: $150 | I teach in an informal friendly style and move around the group discussing successes and challenges of each student's work. Painting must be enjoyable even though it can also be hard work. I find that painting in a group provides a social connection as well as sharing of ideas and knowledge. You will build the skills and confidence to develop your ideas- drawing and painting at your own pace. Beginners and those with more experience will be guided in the medium of their choice, to find an individual style, and create finished pictures. The fundamentals of composition, colour and tone will be taught as they apply to your work. Class tuition covers different techniques in oils and acrylics. | | Open Studio Julie Williams (facilitator) Friday Afternoons 1pm to 3:30pm Term 3 - Monday 15th July to Friday 13th September Fee: the fee is $45 via Trybooking (9 week term) or pay $5 cash to the facilitator when attending a class. | This is open to paid up members of GECAG. .
